Wal-Mart Evangelism Outreach-July 25, 2008

On Friday, July 25, 2008, we organized another evangelism outreach event at Wal-Mart. We were ready to go after setting up the canopy by approximately 1:30pm and we ended at approximately 6:30pm. We, (Jeff Pankratz, Greg Nathe, Bill Jarvi) started out by handing out gospel tracts and conversing with some people. Jeff Pankratz took many people through the Good Person Survey and walked people through the Law and the Gospel and encouraged us all to be bolder in asking people to go through the Good Person Test. Bill Jarvi passed out many gospel tracts and had some very interesting conversations himself. Bill and Jeff stayed to about 3:00-3:30pm and then First Baptist Pastor, Darryl Knappen, came out to join in about that same time. A mother/daughter duo, Cassie and Jasmine Burns, also came out to join us in witnessing at around 5pm and they also are from First Baptist Church. They were excited to share the Good News of the Gospel.

There were many interesting conversation taking place. One of those conversations was with a former ‘professing born-again Lutheran Minister’ who stated that he found something that was better than Jesus, who he called ‘The Great Mother’ (New-Ager). Pastor Darryl and I had an interesting conversation with him for approximately 45-50 minutes. Cassie and Jasmine also had an interesting encounter with a couple that lives up in their neck of the woods of Parkers Prairie area, and Cassie and Jasmine invited this couple to do a ‘Heartbeat’ Bible study with them.

All in all, we ended up having 15-20 ‘1-2-1’ conversations with people, besides the handing out of over 200 gospel tracts again. I would say that 90% of the people we offered a tract to took it. We gave away squirt guns to kids along with the kids gospel tracts (6-pack for a $1.00), very inexpensive to get gospel tracts into kid’s hands, and thereby gospel tracts into the parents’ hands. It was a great success in that we are called to speak and God does the conviction and the saving.

Another outreach event will be planned towards the end of August, but has not yet been reserved. We will notify you all when the next event will be as soon as we find out the date. Peace to all.

For HIS Glory alone,
Greg Nathe
